Hatred of the Jews is not, at root, a racial or economic problem. It is a revolt against a moral universe: a God who is one, who is personal, who is moral; a law that binds the strong; a human being who is not raw material. The Jews introduced that universe. Cultures that discard it do not stay decent for long.

You cannot hate the root and love the fruit. Darrow Miller

Thomas Cahill wrote that we can hardly get up in the morning or cross the street without being Jewish — that we dream Jewish dreams and hope Jewish hopes. Winston Churchill, in 1920, said the West owes the Jews “a system of ethics which, even if it were entirely separated from the supernatural, would be incomparably the most precious possession of mankind,” and that on that system the whole of existing civilization was built out of the wreck of Rome.

Bari Weiss called rising antisemitism an early warning system — a sign that a society is breaking down. The canary is an alarm in the mine. It is not a claim that the Jews can be wiped out. The promise to Abraham in Genesis 12 is why they cannot. Empires that came against them are gone. Egypt. Babylon. Rome. The Reich. The Jewish people remain. The title is the doctrine: they cannot be erased.

When a culture loses its morals it goes after the Jews. It is never just about the Jews. The gas in the mine does not stop with them.

What this book is not

Not a Likud brief. Not a conversion program. Not a travelogue. Not geopolitics. If you already know Darrow’s Occupy Till I Come, this is that argument in the hour we are in — same mouth, next book. One title on this site. Pair them; do not merge them.

What you will find

Eight parts, from the canary through the gifts of the Jews, the sacred-secular divide, and what presence, voice, and action look like now. A study guide is already in the back. You do not need a committee to start. Read the sample chapter.

From the first readers

“It’s a masterpiece of visionary polemics, focused on the pivotal issue of our epoch: Israel as the embattled source and numinous savior of our civilization.”

George Gilder, author of The Israel Test

“Western civilization, as I argue in my own book, began at Mount Sinai. Darrow Miller’s The Jews Cannot Be Erased is the Christian complement to that argument — a comprehensive account of what the Jewish people gave the world, why the world has always responded with hatred, and what the church must do about it.”
