Bari Weiss has said it as clearly as anyone alive: when antisemitism moves from the shameful fringe into the public square, it is not about Jews. It is never about Jews. It is about everyone else. It is an early warning system — a sign that a society is breaking down. That it is dying.
Darrow Miller writes as a Gentile, and as a Christian who has spent a lifetime arguing that ideas have consequences for nations. He writes: “I wear a Star of David with the Lion of Judah at its center as a confession of debt.” Friendships with Jewish people are “not for the purpose of evangelism—that instrumentalizes the relationship and undermines trust—but for the purpose of genuine human connection.”

Thomas Cahill wrote that we can hardly get up in the morning or cross the street without being Jewish — that we dream Jewish dreams and hope Jewish hopes. Winston Churchill, in 1920, said the West owes the Jews “a system of ethics which, even if it were entirely separated from the supernatural, would be incomparably the most precious possession of mankind,” and that on that system the whole of existing civilization was built out of the wreck of Rome. George Gilder’s The Israel Test is in this argument: the Jews as cherished contribution and resented standard.

This is not a call to endorse every policy of the Israeli government, any more than support for the persecuted church in China requires endorsing every policy of the Chinese government-in-exile.
